GLOBERIDERKITES 2007 - TRIX & SONIC II

The Sonic in 2005/2006 has been a real success. GK have taken on board feedback from their riders around the world and made several improvements to what is a great performing and simple to use kite. This year there will be 2 models with the introduction of the TRIX, a hybrid mid aspect kite aimed at those wanting a stable kite that will perform well for unhooked moves & waves.

There are a number of reasons why the kites nor the info have not been released earlier , not least of all some delay with final production tweaks as GK's designer, Mat Pendle, had to make a trip to France (from GK hq in Mauritius) at a critical time very recently for back surgery. Mat is well along getting better already having been spending a lot of time at the factory seeing the kites into final production.

There have been a few proto kites about around the world... but they have not been the final production version of either the Sonic or the Trix... very close... but still, not what should be hyped up all over internet as they were not finished product and not 100% what will be sold at the end of the day... no rush.

The main omission on the proto kites was the new patented bridle set up called the A-KPO (Adjustable Kite Power Optimiser, which is explained in the catalogue pics below) ... this wasn't dished out on many of the early sample kites (such as ours) because the patent was not progressed enough so it was naturaly under wraps... it is essentialy a fully Adjustable KPO system that allows the rider to effectively tune bar pressure, feedback and performance characteristics...

... Although the kites don't need it and in all respects, including bar feedback and performance, many of us that have flown the kites feel there was a lot to be shouting about even without the A-KPO attached as we've been loving both kites just set up on standard KPO bridles

GK SONIC II 2007 - SLE

The '07 GK SONIC II is a supported Leading edge (SLE) , free ride , high performance 4 line kite, with 100% depower capability.

THE GK SONIC II is for riders who wants a fast, high boosting kite. It has been designed for speed, upwind performance, huge lift and massive wind range.

The SONIC will generate enourmous power at speed and will allow more experienced riders to push the boundaries of free ride perfromance. The combination of high aspect ratio, flat profiles and thin leading edge give this kite its superior flight performance.

Intermediate riders will enjoy the superior speed, lift and upwind ability of the SONIC.

Riders of the GK SONIC will enjoy consistent performance between all sizes.

"In a nut shell... the 11m Sonic is an improved 11m Sonic so thats all good.... you know the score. The 07 Sonic has all that has been asked for to improve an already highly regarded, influential and much loved kite... it maybe feels a bit more positive at the bar but, in std bridle spec at least, remains light and retains that silky smooth feel right through its immense wind range. If you had to pick out anything it feels more grunty at the low end and feels even better behaved at the top ... we will look forward to how the new A-KPO bridle works with it to adjust the feel and performance."

GK TRIX 2007 - HYBRID/SEMI-SLE

The '07 GK TRIX is a semi-supported Leading Edge Medium Aspect , hybrid, 4 line kite with 100% depower capability.

The GK TRIX is specially designed for waveriders and wakestyle chargers wanting predictable power and a kite that just always works.

The TRIX has has a full profile and long center strut length for extra grunt at low speeds and around the edge of the window.

Waveriders will enjoy its stability and predictable edge zone performance.

Freestyle chargers will love the responsive turning and slower forgiving speed through the power-zone for pushing your limits without massive consequences.

This design is also perfect for beginners wanting an easy-to-relaunch forgiving kite for accelerated learning. This is the plug and play kite that simply works.

The '07 A-KPO offer riders of the Trix a huge wind range and the ability to customize the feel through the bar for personalized setup.

"The 9m Trix is a breath of fresh air... Note the simplicity of its 'bridle'... its just a 2 point attachment like a bigger version of the original KPO on early Globes... its barely an SLE. It also has an array of attachment points along the LE for potential 5th line set ups ( or " errrrm experimentation" as Mat Pendle likes to put it. Not that I see any need to complicate anything with extra lines etc. as its so sweet on 4.. but the options are there.

The Trix it very tight, fast and solid on the turn... its consistent right through turns an even the most agressive kite loops... and very punchy... it really doesn't feel like an SLE / Hybrid... like really.

Out of the bag it has a more direct bar feedback than the Sonic and is noticibly more resistant to oversheeting the backlines so it is less prone to back stall ( as a result of bad trim or heavy handed flying etc.)... a characteristic that also makes it a no brainer for un-hooked riding...

The Trix is nothing short of epic for waveriding and freestyle... its very accurate to place around the window and is always where you want it with minimum fuss. Nudge the bar as you hit a lip or lay down a bottom turn and you can feel it respond instantly... and you know its gonna follow you. Super sharp on the turn yet a steady pace across the window... the Trix has a perfect balance between grunt and sweet handling (no doubt tunable to taste with the new A-KPO bridle).

In essence it feels just like a sharp, crisp, mid AR 'C' kite... but still retains that 100% de-power at the push of the bar... that de-power is more of an on / off feel than the silk smooth progression of the Sonic which just feels right for the punchy style of kite that it is... we think the Trix is a killer kite.
